Job: Give food (in form of veggies and grain) to people (see Goddess of).
Appearance: Mature, motherly woman. Usually wwith a veil. Often seen carrying a sheaf of grain.
Characteristics: Pretty firm. A very protective mother. But usually quite pleasant.
Symbols / Sacred Objects: Sheaf of grain, sometimes corn.

Also Known As:
Parents: Cronus and Rhea, the titans that used to rule the universe. They're the parents of the first generation of Olympians (Hestia, Hades, Demeter, Poseidon, Hera, and Zeus). She is the second youngest daughter (before Hera), and the third youngest in all (before Poseidon, Hera, and Zeus). See History.
Married to: No one.
Strengths: Can control the fertility of the earth
Weaknesses: Just don't get her mad.

#1 Mother of Persephone (see Minor God #1) and a character in the Abduction of Persephone (see Minor
God #1).
#2 Worshipped at the Eleusinian Mysteries, a popular festival honouring her and Persephone in the near-Athens city of Eleusis. The participants were believed to be granted a spot in Elysius after death. Unfortunately, the participants were also sworn to secrecy, and apparently no one broke their vow, so we still don't know what happened at these rites. Hence the term Eleusinian Mysteries!
